On the heels of a spring filled with offers from top programs from around the country, four-star cornerback Kary Vincent closed the door on his recruitment with an emphatic commitment to LSU wholesale jerseys.

The announcement came via a video reveal he released on Sunday evening.

For a while it seemed as though he was considering a few other serious contenders like Texas, Florida State and Ohio State, but that was all window dressing around the true centerpiece in his collection of suitors.

“Four months ago I took my first visit here, and that’s really when I committed,” he said. “It was really about my gut feeling; it’s the home feeling I have with these guys and these coaches. I really believe in and know that the people here are what I need to progress in all aspects of my life as a person and a player.”

Vincent’s speed and ability to read the game make him a valuable asset as a shark in the secondary. He seamlessly peels off his coverage to where the play flows and is as strong making a play on a ball in the air as he is willing to step up and make a tackle.

He expects that his ability to cover that much ground is what will make him a strong contributor early on with the Tigers’ defense.

“What Coach (Dave) Aranda has explained to me and from what I have seen, he plays to the players that he has,” he said. “He sets up his defense based on the skills that his players have. He told me that he plans to use me in the same way that (they) used Tyrann Mathieu. I can thank my father for that, he’s my DB coach but I’m real versatile, I can play anywhere on the field.”

Vincent’s relationship with Aranda and the entire staff was crucial in his level of comfort with the program. Following his recruitment, he is seemingly more familiar with the entire Tigers staff than most other recruits are with just one coach from any given program.

“Coach (Les) Miles and me were in real close contact,” Vincent said. “He texts me all the time. Ultimately Coach (Corey) Raymond – the relationship that I have with him, even Coach (Bradley) Peveto, Coach (Ed Orgeron) and Coach Aranda, all those guys are so welcoming and I know that it’s the right place for me to be.”

The Port Arthur, Texas, product had very positive things to say about his relationship with Miles and has moved past the drama of a year ago surrounding his future as head coach . Vincent thinks how Miles and company have been assembling this year’s recruiting class speaks volumes for the future of the staff and program.

“I’ve talked to him about it, I had concerns at first, but I believe that he is going to be here for a long time,” Vincent said. “I don’t see any reason why he wouldn’t be. I’m real excited about the class we’re putting together – it’s already crazy with the guys that we have now.

“If people are wowed now by what we have, they’re going to be real excited about what’s to come, because we’re just getting started.”

If Vincent’s engagement on social media is any indication, he should be a useful addition to LSU’s efforts landing a few more top-tier recruits to round out an increasingly impressive class. LSU’s is already a top-ten group in the Rivals.com team rankings .

“I’m going after Marvin Wilson and I have to get Todd Harris and K’Lavon Chaisson from North Shore,” he said. “I’m going to get them.”

Despite the fact that Vincent has been in the fold with LSU for some time, that may not be enough to remove all doubt he’ll stay committed to the Tigers. He said that he still plans on taking official visits in the fall, but that he has no intention of flipping to another program.

“I’m 100% committed to my school, and that’s LSU,” he said. “I’ve talked to many people that have gone on now in the league and they just say that they wish they would have seen everything. I’m committed to LSU, I’ll be going to LSU, but it’s a wonderful opportunity to take visits and I would be crazy to miss it.”
